Our First Lady & Pastor

Your Pastor

Rev. Dr. David Scott is the newly appointed pastor of The Journey of Faith United Methodist Church (UMC) in Waldorf, MD. Prior to this appointment, he served with pride and dedication as the pastor of Shiloh Community United Methodist Church in Newburg, MD. With over thirty years of experience in pastoral ministry, he has worked in various capacities both domestically and internationally.

Dr. Scott holds graduate degrees from Clark Atlanta University, Erskine Theological Seminary, and Liberty Theological Seminary. His qualifications include a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership, a Doctor of Ministry, a Master of Divinity, a Master of Theological Studies, a Master of Education and Counseling, as well as Level 1 and Level 2 training in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).

Dr. Scott is a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served as a commissioned officer and Army Chaplain, deploying to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom.

Reverend Scott is deeply passionate about bringing people to Christ and sharing Christ with everyone. He believes that nothing is more critical, meaningful, or rewarding than teaching, preaching, and proclaiming God's transformative and life-changing Word. Each week, he delivers Christ-centered, Bible-focused sermons and leads two mid-week Bible studies, both in person and via Zoom. These sessions are well attended and appreciated by participants from as far away as the United Kingdom.

Dr. Scott has been a proud and enthusiastic Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. member for over 28 years. He is also a Prince Hall Mason and Shriner.

Dr. Scott is an accomplished and published author of 8 books.

Reverend Scott is married to the love of his life, First Lady Tamara Scott, a.k.a (The Boss).

Men's Ministry

At Journey of Faith United Methodist Church, our Men’s Ministry is a place for men of all ages and backgrounds to connect, grow, and serve together in Christ’s name. Meeting once a month, we create a space to share life’s challenges, encourage one another in faith, and deepen our relationship with God through fellowship, prayer, and discussion. Whether we’re diving into God’s Word, strengthening personal connections, or simply enjoying meaningful conversations, our gatherings are designed to inspire spiritual growth and build lasting friendships. Come as you are and join us as we walk this journey of faith together, supporting one another in our call to live as men of God. In addition to our Men’s Ministry, we also offer a variety of other discipleship ministries, including Children’s, Youth, Young Adult, and Marriage Ministries, providing opportunities for everyone to grow in faith and build a stronger connection with God and our church community.

At Journey of Faith United Methodist Church, our Food Pantry Ministry is dedicated to serving the Waldorf, Maryland, and Charles County communities with love and compassion. Rooted in Christ’s call to feed the hungry, we provide nutritious food and essential supplies to individuals and families in need. More than just a handout, our pantry is a source of hope, dignity, and community for those facing challenging times. Whether you’re seeking assistance or looking to make a difference by volunteering or donating, our doors and hearts are open. Together, we can be the hands and feet of Jesus, ensuring no one in our community goes hungry. In addition to supporting the pantry, you can also help save lives by participating in our regular blood donation drives.
